Greetings(!)

And welcome to Pip & Nibs.

My name is Philip Ejike and I build books. Specifically, I write books that exist in that mysterious/fruitful/slightly frightening space between Middle Grade and Upper Young Adult. Call it Lower Young Adult, if you’d like. Or perhaps Upper Upper Middle Grade? New Teen, maybe? That sounds catchy.

Regardless, my books reside in a sort of sweet spot, in which they can employ the charming language of Middle Grade, as well as the complexities in plot and character found in Young Adult. If this right up your alley, then my books are just for you. I hope.

So. Why subscribe? That’s a very good question.

Well, for one thing, you’ll have access to the Substack-exclusive novella cycle, Mittenwood, PA, which is coming in 2025.

For another, you will have a first look at novels and novellas that will eventually come to exist outside of the Substack-o-sphere. A great example is my book The Girl with the Strawberry Eyes, which can, at the time being, only be found here. Chapters will be added weekly, until the book is finished.

Additionally, you will receive, among other things, semi-annual updates on what I’m working on, bits of supplemental material, and opportunities to read and review ARCs (Advance Reader Copies).

If Pip & Nibs just isn’t enough for you, feel free to visit my official website and sign up for my monthly newsletter, The Pippley Gazette.
